Good morning Year 5.
Thank you for all the poems you have sent me: they are amazing. Check out the ‘Children’s work’ on the website section to see yours. If yours is not there, please let me know – I do make mistakes!!
As some of you may know, it is a bank holiday on Friday to commemorate the 75th anniversary VE day. (If you are not sure what VE day is, read on and you will find out!)
So today’s work is going to be based around this.
Reading – read for 20 minutes – talk to someone about your book if you can. If someone can ask you questions about your book, even better! Don’t forget you can read ‘First News’ too, or listen to some stories using these links:
I have given you this link before – it is for books online, in case you are running out!!
Choose a PE activity from the PE icon or tune in to ‘P.E. with Joe’, although I think he has injured himself, but I believe his wife is taking over!! Just make sure you do something active!!
VE day activities:
Read the attached document called ‘Instructions’ and follow the instructions on there. It will require you to look at another attached document called ‘Poem’
Enjoy completing challenge 1 – writing a poem and challenge 2 – creating an image or model of a soldier. These are not our normal ‘challenges’ they are both for everyone to complete.
Look at the link below to create some of your own bunting to commemorate the day. Or just create your own, as we have at school sometimes.
I hope you enjoy this VE day work. Just as we are thinking about all the heroes who are helping us now, we should remember the people who did the same in past wars that enable us to live our lives today.
